What Is Polyurethane And How Is It Made?

Are you also looking for ways to protect your building, extend its life, improve its appearance and save on your energy bill? If so, adding a Polyurethane PU Primers coating is the answer you are looking for.

There are several advantages to adding Polyurethane PU Primers finish to the construction of exterior buildings. Here are five key reasons why you should apply a polyurethane finish to your building surface. After reading this you will be ready to order.

Protection

Polyurethane PU Primers finishing with epoxy primers basically creates a smooth protective barrier on the surface to which it is applied. This barrier is almost impervious to atmospheric elements such as humidity, salts and ultraviolet light, so it keeps weather elements away from the material on which the coating is applied.

Polyurethane finish provides protection from rust when mixed with epoxy primer. In coastal environments, it is especially useful to prevent salt and sand from damaging buildings and other structures.

Polyurethane Primers finish protects concrete and steel from harmful chemicals. In addition, it protects against harmful bacteria, bird droppings, dirt and debris from construction materials.

Due to these advantages, Polyurethane PU Primer finish is widely used in the construction industry. To go without it would be to take several risks, which could be costly in terms of increasing maintenance costs and shortening the life cycle of the coating.

Versatility

Polyurethane finish with epoxy primer can be applied to most types of materials. It can be used on structural steel, non-ferrous metals, engineered foam systems, engineered plastic systems and more. Once cured, the aliphatic polyurethane finish does not contain harmful chemicals so there is no need to worry about whether it is appropriate to use this finishing material.

The versatility of polyurethane is one of the most widely used coating materials in all types of construction, including sealants, adhesives and coatings.

Polyurethane coatings are also versatile in their variety of finishes. Polyurethane PU Primers finishes are available in metallic, pearl and solid color finishes for the commercial-architectural market, in a spectrum ranging from gloss to matte / flat. Polyurethane PU Primers coatings are often applied using a brush, roller or spray.

PRODUCT ADVANTAGES

Uniform Top Coat - Garland PU primers with its unique bleed blocking properties prevents coatings from staining and deformation when applied to asphalt and charcoal asphalt roofs.

Provides maximum adhesion to the surface - Garland PU primers ensure a long lasting elastic bond between the existing roof surface and the Arland finishing material which acts as a weatherproof.

What Are The Benefits Of Durable Epoxy Paint?

Put your Best Foot Forward with Epoxy Coatings

Epoxy Paint offers many important benefits for hard working areas such as garages, sheds and industrial spaces. Especially effective for high stress environments, applying epoxy paint to the floor surface is a great way to invest in your home or commercial property. While epoxy paint needs to be used properly, its benefits far outweigh the installation process.

What is Epoxy Flooring?

Epoxy Paint refers to several layers of epoxy resin with a thickness of at least 2 mm. If the epoxy paint is less than 2mm, it is called an epoxy coating. Either way, epoxy is a very durable substance that is painted on plain concrete parts. However, some concrete surfaces do not retain the coating and area preparation can be very time consuming. With that in mind, there are ways to evaluate your concrete and see if Epoxy Paint is right for your particular project.

Installing Epoxy Paint

For a small concrete area like a garage or work shed, installing epoxy is a three to four day commitment. To be truly successful, you need to be fully prepared. The first day should be dedicated to cleaning the floor, removing oil or grease stains, vacuuming, mopping and thoroughly washing the area. The next day should include filling any cracks and applying an initial epoxy coating. On the third day, you can apply a second coat of epoxy.

For commercial floors and industrial spaces, installing Epoxy Paint should be handled by professionals. Due to the size and scope of the project, it is imperative that expert installers complete the work. Plus, your new floor will be ready for work and will look great on time.

The Benefits of Having an Epoxy Paint

You will find that applying Epoxy Primer to your concrete is not only aesthetically pleasing but also offers many other important benefits to your hardwood floor.

Strength

Epoxy is a very strong material that is resistant to oil, grease and chemical spills.

Durability

Your new floor will last longer than a plain concrete surface. Epoxy coatings can withstand high traffic areas and resist shrinkage.

Low-maintenance

Since the epoxy coating seals the concrete, it is easy to clean dirt, soot and soot.

Safety

Because epoxy is slip-resistant and can handle extreme temperatures, your coated floor is safe for everyone.

Environmentally-friendly

Instead of re-installing a completely new concrete floor every few years, Industrial Primer offers a positive, durable alternative.

If you are considering a new epoxy floor for your home, industrial location or commercial building, you should understand the benefits of saving time and money with your investment. Unless you believe in epoxy coating installation, it would be wise to consider professional installers to handle the installation. Why You Should Use An Epoxy Primer?

Deciding whether to use epoxy floor primer is a topic that has been overlooked by many businesses that invest in premium floor coatings. In fact, most people do not know that floor primers exist or are not needed and that they are an additional expense.

The installation of a new floor requires a number of carefully considered procedures. Preparing the floor, being the first, is the most important and floor primer is equally important, saving not only your time and effort but also money.

BENEFITS OF AN EPOXY FLOOR PRIMER

There are several benefits to applying an epoxy floor primer before coating your flooring:

  • Epoxy primers are thinner, they provide better adhesion as they provide better bonding as they penetrate the concrete substrate.

  • Primers offer good chemical bonding when using a thick epoxy primers base coat. This leads to a longer-lasting and more durable concrete floor coating.

  • Removal of air bubbles and pinholes created by coming out of concrete

  • Ability to achieve high dry film thickness and coating uniformity without getting wet in concrete.

  • Effective for providing moisture resistance for concrete flooring with moisture problems.

  • Primers create a strong waterproof barrier for concrete flooring that usually picks up any paint except the effective damp proof membrane (DPM) and peels off the surface.

  • Most epoxy primers are moisture tolerant and work best when applied to concrete that is clean or completely dry from acid digging.

  • Some primers are specifically formulated as oil blocking primers. These solvent-based primers are designed to cover concrete that is contaminated with oil and cannot be completely cleaned.

CHOOSING THE CORRECT FLOOR PRIMER

Professional primers are formulated to penetrate deep into the pores of the substrate to achieve excellent mechanical bonding. Their adhesion is often higher than the topcoat due to the inclusion of adhesion promoters. Furthermore, expert primers are formulated to withstand all types of conditions from increasingly moist, oily surfaces, dust, volatile layers as well as many different surfaces from concrete to ceramic and metal, marble. Due to its ability to penetrate commercially formulated primers, surface bonding is usually low but provides excellent chemical bonding with subsequent topcoats or screeds.

Primers are also designed to seal surfaces from concrete leaks, where the air will rise and be expelled from the concrete. This can be due to a number of reasons, including an increase in temperature or changes in humidity. Increasingly damp, bad, or non-existent DPM (damp proof screen) Rising water table and/or filling the immediate emergency area with water can cause major floor problems. It is recommended to use a specially formulated primer to resist the water pressure below and to completely avoid the possibility of increasing moisture.

Due to their low viscosity and thin-film build, the primer gets wetter on the surface and this helps to seal the entire surface area and especially the small voids and divots on each concrete floor. For this reason, it is less likely to push on air and if this happens, the bubble will pop and the resin, being thin, will return to normal and refill the ‘hole’ caused by the bubble.

DO I ALWAYS HAVE TO USE A PRIMER?

In cases where the surface is properly prepared and the surface is healthy (and you do not have oil and other unwanted ingredients such as moisture etc.), you have a better chance of coating failure.

However, with all the benefits of using an epoxy floor primer, it is preferable to guarantee the best adhesion, long-term investment and durable flooring.
