Procedure of powder paint for Acoustic Enclosure

The first step in either painting process is to sandblasting the product after it has been finished. In projects that are being repainted, sandblasting is used to remove any old coatings still on the product. The medium used for sandblasting can range widely from biodegradable options such as walnut shells to produced steel grit. Sandblasting strips all surface oxidisation of steel so that it rusts within hours when exposed to the correct atmosphere. Keeping this in mind, it will be important for the product to remain in a dry environment after sandblasting.

The next step is to start applying the powder. The operator shall begin with a zinc-based primer applied by means of a special electrostatic or corona gun. First, the powder is physically attracted to the workpiece, so the spray is minimal. Second, if you try to apply a powder coat that is too thick in an area, the positive charge density will actually remove the powder and prevent it from being applied too thickly.

Once the powder is applied evenly to the workpiece, it is moved from the powder coating bay to the oven where it is heated to the primer gel. After the primer is heated or "freezed," it is moved back to the powder coating booth where the finish coat is applied. The final coat is usually a customer-driven colour and is applied in the same way as the primer. The last stage is to bake the product in the oven until it is completely cured and ready to go to the next stage of production.
